The functionality of all leveling feet is similar; however, due to different areas of application, the models differ in design, adjustment range, and mounting method. Each type of foot primarily performs a leveling, stabilizing, and protective role, but the design of the individual variants has been adapted to different working conditions and load types.
A fixed foot consists of a stud permanently set in the base. It is often referred to as a screw-in foot because its height is adjusted by manually turning the entire element. It is a simple and reliable solution used in light structures, furniture, and equipment with low leveling requirements.
An adjustable foot, also called a leveling foot, is equipped with an additional hexagon that allows precise height adjustment using a wrench. Depending on the way the stud is connected to the base, two types of design can be distinguished:
> fixed (non-swivel) – the stud is integrated with the base, so the entire base rotates during adjustment. This solution works well in furniture, shelving, and light structures.
> swivel – the stud is mounted on a pin that allows the screw to rotate independently. The base remains stationary on the floor, which facilitates precise positioning and protects the surface from shifting and scratches. This type is used in more demanding structures.
A swivel foot (movable foot) is equipped with a ball joint that allows the base to tilt flexibly in relation to the stud. Thanks to this, the foot compensates for surface unevenness, ensuring stable support even with significant deviations. The joint is most commonly used in industrial equipment, machines, and structures with high weight and vibration.
Areas of application
Industrial machines require stable positioning because even minor surface irregularities can affect component life, working accuracy, and vibration levels. Machine feet are often equipped with anti-slip pads that reduce vibration and prevent the equipment from moving during operation.
In everyday devices such as household appliances, proper leveling affects the correct operation of mechanisms and user comfort. That is why most devices are equipped with adjustable feet that allow the height to be quickly matched.
In the furniture industry, feet not only perform a stabilizing function, but also protect floors from scratches and provide the proper distance between the furniture and the floor, reducing contact with moisture.
Feet equipped with mounting holes are used in retail shelving, warehouses, and structures requiring permanent attachment to the floor. They ensure full stability even under heavy loads.
In the medical and food industries, hygienic models made of stainless steel are used. Their closed design makes cleaning easier and guarantees resistance to chemicals and moisture.
Variety of variants
Bäcker industrial feet are available in many configurations differing in design, material, and intended use. Standardized thread and base dimensions ensure broad compatibility with steel structures, furniture, and machines.
The range includes bases made of plastic, rubber, or metal. Studs are available in versions made of galvanized steel and stainless steel. Additional accessories, such as anti-slip pads made of TPR or NBR rubber and plugs with a threaded hole, expand the range of applications.
Special modifications can be made on request, such as a slot for a flat screwdriver, a hex socket in the stud, or an external hexagon for wrench adjustment.
